Program Overview

The Town of Olds wants to help older people stay in their own homes as they get older. They have a program to help pay for house cleaning. This program is for seniors who need help but don't qualify for a similar program from the province. 

Check the table below to see if your income qualifies you for the program.

Here are the home support services the town offers, if you qualify:

• Light Housekeeping: This includes making beds, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms and kitchen surfaces, cleaning appliances, tidying up, cleaning window sills, and taking out the garbage.
• Laundry: Washing and drying clothes at your home.

Here are some things the program doesn't cover:

• Personal care (like bathing or dressing)
• Respite care (temporary relief for caregivers)
• Childcare
• Yard work or cleaning the outside of your house

To qualify for the Town of Olds' help with house cleaning costs, here's what you need to know:

Money Matters:

• If you're single, your yearly income should be between $29,011 and $33,410.
• If you're a couple, your combined yearly income should be between $46,441 and $54,640.

Health Matters:

You also need to meet one of these health requirements:

• You have trouble keeping your home clean because of physical problems due to aging, illness, or injury.
• You have an illness, physical problem, or injury that makes it hard to do everyday tasks.
• You recently had surgery and need short-term help at home to recover. (You'll need a note from your doctor.)
